Thank Your Former Self

Hey good folks!
I know that sometimes when we think about the person that we used to be, we wish that we had handled certain things differently.
But I want you, instead of going back, or beating up on yourself, to instead embrace and thank that former version of yourself for having the fortitude to stand in that position.
I want you to thank yourself for taking the wisdom of that former moment and using it as a stepping stone, a building block to the person you are today.
Because without that former experience, you would not be who you are, or have the experience, the wisdom, and the knowledge that you have.
A couple of days ago, I was having a conversation with a really good girlfriend, who's also an attorney. She talked about a client early in her career. She'd been practicing only maybe a year or two.
This client was so rude and nasty. It was unbelievable. She held herself together because that's what an Air Force veteran does, right? She holds herself together.
Afterward, she got into the car after the appointment, and she just broke down crying because it was that rough.
And she said, now twenty years later, "I wish I would run into him again. Boy, he would hear from me."
But without that prior experience, would she necessarily have the strength to deal with that client the way he really needed to be dealt with?
So I want you to remember everything that happens is for our good, even and especially the things that are hard and rough.
Just keep that in mind.
