Remember Who You Are

Hey good folks, remember no matter what position you hold in any organization, what you do matters.
I just had a wonderful experience with a beautiful lady - inside and out - who is an admin for a fantastic architecture company here in the Metro Atlanta area.
I asked her, "Are you one of the people who brings everything to life?"
She responded, "Well, no, I'm just an admin."
Oh, no, no, no!
I told her, "You handle everything so that they (the architects) can focus on bringing these wonderful projects to life. And I think that it's important for you to remember that you are not just an admin, you're not just a secretary, you are not just someone who brings coffee."
Administrative assistants take on responsibilities in an area, things that need to be done, so that others can focus on something else.
Not something more important, or something greater - just something else.
And I think it's important for these wonderful support staff professionals to remember this.
AND
That those of us who are SUPPORTED by these awesome people acknowledge that if they weren't there, our lives would be so much harder.
I know.
Before I started working with excellent administrative professionals, I was doing everything, and candidly, some things did not get done very well. And now that they're here, when they go on vacation...
I cry.
So just remember how important we all are in the grand scheme of things.
